Scope note: Fire-protection systems (standpipes, sprinklers, FDC/PIV) are governed primarily by the Fire Code of the Philippines (RA 9514) and its IRR and standards such as NFPA 13/14/25, in coordination with the plumbing design. This page is a supplementary visual reference — it is not a numbered chapter of the Revised National Plumbing Code. Always verify against the current Fire Code and your local Fire Marshal.

Fire Department Connection (FDC)

FDC — installation requirements. Typical installation with 3 ft (914 mm) clearance to obstructions, 3 ft above and 12 in (305 mm) above finished grade; 36 in (914 mm) unobstructed clearance in front for testing and maintenance; located on the street side near the main entrance, within reach of an approved fire-apparatus access road, and clearly identified.

Siamese Connection

Siamese (Fire Department Connection) installation requirements — clearances and location

Siamese connection — installation requirements. Same clearance and location rules as the FDC (3 ft to obstructions, 12 in above grade, 36 in front clearance, street-side, identified) for the twin-inlet auto-sprinkler/FDC arrangement.

PIV — installation requirements. Minimum 3 ft (914 mm) clearance to obstructions, 12 in above finished grade, 36 in unobstructed clearance for testing/maintenance; located on the street side within reach of the fire-apparatus access road, protected from physical damage, well lit and unobstructed for visibility.

Note on classes: Under NFPA 14, standpipe systems are formally categorised as Class I, II, and III. The cards below follow the source drawings, which also illustrate FDC arrangements for additional system types.
